Poll: Filter based on coming from specific URL

Today someone asked me at the WordPress Forum if it would be possible to create a module in Dynamic Widgets that adds a filter based on coming from specific URL within the website. I answered that I like the idea, but I’m not so sure it would be used very much. To see how other users think about it, I created a poll.

So, what do you think?

  • I am loving this plugin and would like to sponsor this feature, not coming from a specific URL within the website but adding a specific referrer (so it could be coming from a specific URL within the website as well).

    • Sorry for the late reply. Referrers are never reliable. So, when this feature would make it to DW, it can only be used within the website. It’s more or less the same what you’re looking for. The feature would keep the last visited URL before the current one and use it as a condition for hiding or showing a widget.

I’ve worked more with sponsors for the addition of certain features within DW, so I’m always happy to work with you to make this suggested feature happen. There are some conditions of course which I would like to discuss with you. One of those is that the feature will be made freely available in the plugin. In return the name of the sponsor is mentioned in the source code for credits, in the changelog and in the announcement when released to the public.

Please let me know when you’re still interested by sending me an email via the contact form. From there we can discuss the rest of the details.

  • […] New feature requests are always taken into consideration. But it happens quite a few times I get requests I’m not certain there would be an audience for it. For that kind of requests I will create a poll and see the response on it. Based on the outcome of the poll I’ll take the request in consideration again. Currently there is poll running about a feature request: Filter based on coming from specific URL. […]
