The Blog

Twitter has announced it will stop using version 1.0 of the Twitter API on May 7, 2013. This API is used by Tweet Lovers. I have decided not to update Tweet Lovers anymore. This means Tweet Lovers will not work anymore from May 7, 2013.

For the ones who are using this small plugin, I apologize. Tweet Lovers has never made it to such a success as my other plugin Dynamic Widgets is.

I’ve just released version 1.5.4 of Dynamic Widgets. Just a small update release this time. Mostly because of a small issue given by wrong configured webservers spitting out a notice when upgrading to WordPress 3.5.

The following has changed:

  • Added Danish language file (locale: da_DK) – Tak Morten!
  • Bugfix for WPML postID finder reports 0 when WPML language is unknown.
  • Bugfix for Single Post Rules are lost when autosave of single post is made
  • Bugfix for Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare().
  • Upgraded the Pods module to support Pods version 2. – Thanks Scott for the help!
  • Widend the widget_id space because of looooong widget names.
  • Moved to WordPress time in stead of server time for the date/time based modules.

Witin three days time 11 people voted “Broken” on the combination WordPress 3.5 and Dynamic Widgets 1.5.3. I’m wondering how long it will take when those 11 people have voted again for the combination WordPress 3.5 and Dynamic Widgets 1.5.4.

Yesterday, WordPress 3.5 was released. Due to a small change made in the core WordPress system, Dynamic Widgets might give you a notification “Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare()”.

This is a known problem and has already been fixed in the latest development version.

So, when you upgrade to WordPress 3.5 and you receive this notification. You can install this version of Dynamic Widgets for the time being. An official release will follow soon.

Dynamic Widgets 1.5.3

Finally! A new version of Dynamic Widgets. Do I have an excuse that it took so long? No, not really. Time just flies when you’re having fun. Anyway, it’s here. This version has the following added and fixed.

  • Added URL support.
  • Added Day of the week support.
  • Added Weeknumber support.
  • Added Custom Taxonomies support for Posts.
  • Added Chech language files (locale: cs_CZ) – Dekuji Pavel!
  • Added Brazil Portuguese language files (locale: pt_BR) – Obrigado Renato!
  • Bugfix for Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$post_name.
  • Bugfix for Missing options (Archive, Error, Search); Stopped using the accordion.
  • Bugfix for Notice: Undefined index: single_author_act in dynwid_admin_save.php on line 138.
  • Bugfix for not showing the green checkmark when an option is set for single posts.

Two issues remain at this moment with Single Post Rules.

It appears that some widgets are not hidden by DW when certain version(s) of PHP is being used. Unfortunately I have not found out to which version(s) of PHP this problem occurs. I have been able to reproduce the problem on an Ubuntu 10.04 server with PHP 5.3.2. It’s also possible it has to do with a combination of the used WordPress version.

Anyway, I’m working on the issue. It looks like I have a fix available for this problem in development version 1.5.2.6.
